Solara VistaCasino Resort
A casino resort above the salt pans

Solara Vista

Lime-washed walls, louvred shutters and forty-six keys on a white headland. Downstairs, in the hall added in 1992, the Salón Mirador casino floor opens at five.

18+The casino floor admits adults aged 18 and over. Photo ID at the door, every visit.

The house

A salt merchant's white block, rebuilt twice

Solara Vista sits on a chalk headland where a merchant once dried salt in open pans. The pans are still down there below the terrace wall, flooded and faintly pink by July. The house above them went up in 1931 and has been lime-washed every spring since. It grew twice: a stepped wing of rooms in 1964, then the tall ground-floor hall that now holds the casino, finished in 1992.

Forty-six keys. Two kitchens, a bakery counter beside the lift, a bar on the roof that faces the water. Heat sets the timetable, so mornings run slowly: the salt pools fill at seven, breakfast lasts until eleven, and by one most guests have moved under the pergola and stayed there. At five the Salón Mirador unlocks and the building shifts gear.

Everything described on this page happens in the building, in person, with staff present. There is nothing to download and no account to open.

A casino you walk into

The Salón Mirador is a land-based casino room inside the hotel: a floor you cross, a host who shakes your hand, a cashier's desk that shuts at three. This website offers no online casino games, takes no bets, holds no deposits and processes no payments of any kind.

Four ways to sleep on the headland

Every key has shutters that close properly, a ceiling fan as well as air conditioning, a carafe filled twice a day and a tiled bathroom with a window. Floor areas are measured, roughly, to the inside of the walls.

A sitting room with two sets of shutters, a desk in the window that catches the morning, and two balconies: one over the pans, one over the orange court. The casino floor in the 1992 hall

The casino at Solara Vista takes up the hall that was added to the ground floor in 1992: one high white room, nine tables, a card room behind a glass screen, and a casino bar at the window end where the shutters stay open until the air turns cold. Nine tables is a small casino floor and we keep it that way on purpose, because a crowded room is a worse evening.

Our casino hosts will teach a game properly before a chip is placed, and they would rather do that than watch somebody lose money learning. Wednesday evening exists for exactly that. Dealers rotate every twenty minutes, the cashier's desk closes half an hour before the floor, and nobody is ever walked to a table they did not ask for.

To say it plainly once more: this is a land-based casino inside a hotel, open to adults who come through the door. This website runs no casino games, accepts no wagers, takes no deposits and moves no money.

  • European roulette, two wheels
  • Blackjack
  • Punto banco
  • Poker tables, Thursday to Sunday
  • Casino bar over the pans
  • A casino host on every shift

How we handle responsible gaming

Six rules of the floor

  1. Adults aged 18 or over are admitted, or older where local rules set a higher age.
  2. Photo identification is read at the casino door on every visit, with no exceptions made for anyone.
  3. Tell a host your limit in time or in money before the first hand, and the floor team will hold you to it.
  4. A break of a week, a season or longer, and written self-exclusion, are arranged at the desk in confidence.
  5. No credit is given, there is no cash machine on the casino floor, and no bar tab may be opened against the tables.
  6. Phones stay in pockets at the tables. Otherwise the dress code is a shirt and shoes, nothing stricter.

Open daily 17:00 – 03:00 Friday and Saturday until 04:00 · cashier closes 30 minutes earlier

Eat & drink

Two kitchens, a roof bar, a bakery counter

The boats decide most of dinner. Menus are rewritten on Mondays and again when something runs out, which happens.

Dinner · coal kitchen

Restaurante Almadraba

Tuna, squid and whatever came up in the nets, cooked over almond-wood coals in the vaulted room below the terrace. A cold almond soup to start, ten wines open by the glass, and a short dessert list that has not changed in years because nobody wants it to.

Breakfast & lunch

Comedor Naranjal

Under the orange trees in the court. Eggs cooked to order until eleven, then flatbread, cold cuts and one hot plate written on the board at noon.

Bakery counter

Horno de Sal

Bread baked twice before midday, almond cake by the slice, and coffee in a glass to carry down to the pools.

Roof bar · after 22:00 adults only

Bar Poniente

Vermouth with ice and an olive, citrus drinks built with and without alcohol, salted almonds in a steel bowl. The sun goes down at the far end of the bay and the whole roof turns to watch it, every evening, without embarrassment.

The week

What happens on which evening

The shape of the week holds all year. Residents and visitors are both welcome; three evenings fill up and want a table booked.

Monday

Guitar on the lower terrace

A player from the next valley works through two sets while the light goes out of the pans.

Tuesday

Market table

One menu, one long table of sixteen, built from whatever the morning boats and the Tuesday market gave the coal kitchen. The chef brings each plate out himself and tells you what it is.

Wednesday

First time at the tables

Casino hosts teach European roulette and blackjack at a slow table in the Salón Mirador. The chips stay on the felt, no stake is expected and no money changes hands. Adults aged 18 and over, photo ID at the door as always.

Thursday

Sherry in the cellar

Six glasses, from bone dry to sticky, with sheep's cheese and salt-cod croquettes in the cold room.

Friday

Poniente sessions

A trio on the roof, bar open to half past one.

Saturday

Film on the court wall

A projector, forty folding chairs, subtitles and a bowl of almonds.

Sunday

Long lunch, pergola

Rice cooked outdoors in one wide pan, four courses, nobody hurried out.

Public holidays rearrange all of this. Reception writes the current week on the board by the lift.

Salt baths

Baños de Sal, cut into the rock

A ramp runs down behind the lift shaft into the Baños de Sal: two salt-water pools at different temperatures, a hammam of blue tile with a cold bucket on a rope, and a row of wooden beds under a high louvred window. Water comes up from the same table the salt pans once used, which is why it tastes of the sea and leaves a crust on your shoulders.

It is the quietest part of the building and stays that way. No music is played down there, phones are left in the lockers, and the attendant will say something if a conversation gets loud. Towels are stacked at the door; robes hang in the rooms.

Salt pools Two, at 27°C and 34°C, open 07:00 – 21:30
Hammam Blue tile, steam, a cold bucket on a rope
Treatments Massage and a salt scrub that uses the house's own salt, booked at reception the day before
Early lengths The upper pool is kept for swimming lengths until 08:30, when the loungers go out
Good to know

Before you come up the hill

Arrival

Rooms are ready at 15:00 and we ask for them back by 11:00. Bags can be left at reception on either side of a stay. Parking is on the deck below the terrace, under cover, and the lift reaches every floor including the roof. Late arrivals are fine: somebody is always at the desk.

Families

Children sleep, eat and swim here without any fuss, and the lower pool keeps family hours until six. The casino floor is closed to under-18s at every hour of every day, accompanied or not, and Bar Poniente turns adults-only after ten.

Access

A step-free route runs from the car deck through reception to both kitchens, the casino entrance and the pool deck. Two rooms are adapted with roll-in showers. Tell us in advance and the room will be set up before you arrive.

Where we stand on responsible gaming

An evening in the Salón Mirador should cost what you decided it would cost before you walked in, and no more. Our hosts set limits with guests, hold agreed breaks, arrange written self-exclusion without discussion or delay, and hand over the details of independent support at any hour of the night.

Questions

Asked at the desk most often

Is Solara Vista an online casino?

No. Solara Vista is a hotel with a land-based casino floor built into its ground level. These pages describe the building, the rooms, the kitchens and the Salón Mirador. They carry no online casino games, accept no bets, hold no deposits and process no payments.

Who is allowed onto the casino floor?

Adults aged 18 or over, or older where the local minimum is higher. A passport, national ID card or driving licence is read at the casino door on every visit. A photograph of a document is not accepted.

Do I need a room to visit the casino?

No. The Salón Mirador, both kitchens, the roof bar and nearly every evening in the week are open to visitors as well as residents, subject to the age check and to room on the night.

Can children stay at the resort?

Yes. Families book here often, and the rooms, the court restaurant and the lower salt pool all work well for them. The casino floor is the one part of the building a child can never enter, with a parent or without.

Will a host actually hold my limit?

That is the job. Say a number or a finishing time to any host before you start and the floor team writes it down, comes to find you and tells you the evening is over. They will not quietly let it slide because you ask them to.

Can I book dinner without staying the night?

Yes, for all four venues. Book early for the Tuesday market table, the Thursday sherry evening and Sunday lunch, which are the three that fill.

Is there a dress code?

Nothing elaborate. Shirts and shoes on the casino floor and in Almadraba after eight; swimwear stays at the pools. Jackets are not expected and never have been.

Enquiries

Send us your dates and we will answer

Tell us when you would like to come, which room you have in mind and anything that would make the stay easier: a cot in the corner, a floor away from the stairs, an arrival at two in the morning. Reception replies by email, usually within the working day. Reservations are handled by people, by email, not by a form on this website.
