Our position
The Salón Mirador is one room in a hotel that also sells beds, breakfast and a swim in salt water. It is there so a guest can spend an hour at a table after dinner, learn punto banco from somebody patient, or sit at the casino bar with a glass and watch other people play. It is not a way to repair a bad month, and we will not pretend otherwise in our own words or in our advertising.
Our casino hosts are therefore paid to notice when an evening has stopped being enjoyable, and to interrupt it. A host who ends a guest's night early has done the right thing, and the floor manager will back the decision in front of the guest.
This website carries no gambling at all. Nothing on these pages can be played, staked, deposited or paid for. The casino exists on the ground floor of a building, and you have to walk in to use it.
Strictly adults only
- Entry to the casino floor begins at 18, or at the higher age if local rules set one.
- A passport, national identity card or driving licence is read at the door on every visit, whatever a guest looks like and however often they come.
- Photographs of documents, expired documents and documents belonging to somebody else are all refused, without a conversation about it.
- Younger members of a family may sleep here, eat in both kitchens and use the lower salt pool. They cannot step onto the casino floor, with a parent or without one.
- Bar Poniente, on the roof, also turns adults-only after ten in the evening.
What a host can arrange with you
- A finishing time. Name the hour you intend to stop and a host will come and find you at that hour, in person.
- A ceiling on spending. Agree a figure before the first hand; the floor team writes it down and holds the line for the rest of the evening.
- A break. Ask to be refused at the casino door for a fortnight, a season or a year, and you will be.
- Self-exclusion. A written agreement for a fixed term, kept confidential, which we do not cut short on request however good the reason sounds on the night.
Credit is never extended at Solara Vista. There is no cash machine on the casino floor, the roof bar cannot open a tab against the tables, and the cashier's desk shuts half an hour before the floor does.
Signs worth taking seriously
- Playing for longer, or for more, than you had settled on before you came downstairs.
- Going back to the floor to win back what the earlier part of the evening took.
- Using money that belongs to rent, a bill, a holiday or somebody else.
- Keeping the size of your play from the people you arrived with.
- Feeling flat or restless on the days you do not play.
- Choosing the casino over sleep, over work the next morning, or over the person waiting upstairs.
If two of those land, say something to a host or write to one of the organisations below. Nothing a guest tells our staff about their own play is written into a guest record or passed to anyone.

Reception keeps the details of the nearest local service at the desk and will hand them over quietly, without asking what it is for.
Staff and training
Nobody works a shift on the casino floor before being briefed on the age check, on how to refuse entry calmly, and on how to approach a guest who is having a bad night. Those briefings are repeated twice a year, and dealers rotate off a table every twenty minutes partly so that somebody fresh is always watching the room.
